How do I know my faucet or sink needs attention?

  • A faucet that drips or will not shut off fully
  • Low water pressure from one faucet
  • Water under the sink or around the base of the faucet
  • A sink that drains slowly or holds standing water
  • A loose handle, or a faucet that is hard to turn
  • Corrosion or mineral buildup on the fixture

What should I do if the sink is leaking?

  1. Close the shut-off valves under the sink by turning them clockwise.
  2. Put a bucket under the leak and dry the cabinet to prevent damage.
  3. Call a plumber if the leak continues or you cannot tell where it is coming from.

What affects the cost of faucet and sink work?

Every job is different. The main factors are:

  • Repair, replacement or a new installation

Frequently asked questions

Why is my faucet dripping?

A drip usually comes from a worn washer, cartridge or seal inside the faucet. Some can be repaired, and an older faucet is often better replaced.

Should I repair or replace a leaking faucet?

If the faucet is fairly new and only needs a part, a repair makes sense. If it is old, corroded or has been repaired before, replacing it is usually the better choice.

Why is my sink draining slowly?

Usually something is partly blocking the drain, such as grease, soap or hair. Harsh chemical cleaners can damage pipes, so avoid them. If the sink keeps backing up, call a plumber.

What should I do about a leak under my sink?

Close the shut-off valves under the sink, put a bucket under the leak and dry the cabinet. Then call a plumber to find the source.

Do you service sinks and faucets in commercial buildings?

Yes. GD Plumbing does both residential and commercial plumbing.

How much does faucet or sink work cost?

It depends on whether it is a repair, a replacement or a new installation. Prices vary from job to job, so we give a quote for each one. Call 613-446-5959 or request a quote.
